Description

In 1908, the Canadian government had Calgary host the Dominion Exhibition (July 1st, 1908). There was a parade, the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch Wild West Show (Guy Weadick worked with this troupe), air shows, and events in the Industrial Exhibits building.
A booklet with a brown cover and a piece of brown yarn as binding. The front cover has a black and white photograph placed centre right. The photograph is of Indigenous people wearing Regalia on horseback during the parade. They march on a dirt street with a few houses in the background. Above the photograph in a red banner is black writing saying “Calgary Pageant.” To the left of the photograph is more black text saying “Souvenir / July 1st, 1908.” Surrounding the date is a semi-circle of leaves and vines. Surrounding all the text and the photograph is a border of a thin black line.

The back cover is completely blank. Inside, there are photographs of the parade with short titles. On the back of the front cover is a pen inscription saying “To Roh / from Shorty.” The title page has a border of illustrated leaves and flowers. It says in the middle of the page in black text “Souvenir / of the / Dominion Day Pageant / held at / Calgary Alberta July 1st 1908.” In pencil handwriting on the right margin is messy handwriting.
