The photographs date from 1916. The men doing the exercises are on the tarmac between the grandstand and picket fence fencing off the infield. The men are standing upright, with both their arms extended fully to either side.A portion of the grandstand is visible in the top left corner of the images. There are men seated on the grandstand; some wear civilian clothes, some military uniforms, some white exercise uniforms. Some of the men wearing military uniforms are playing instruments. There are also many other men wearing dark military uniforms standing on the tarmac. There are other buildings to the right of the grandstand. In the background, there are some houses built on top of a plateau. On the far-left side of the photo, there is white text reading “R120 W.V. Ring.” Still left of the middle, but closer to the bottom of the photo, there is white text reading “No. 1. Class – Physical Drill 82nd 0. Battn C.E.F.
